ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Located on North Pearl Street in Albany, European Tailoring & Alteration has been operating downtown for decades, but last year it got a facelift in more ways than one. Mo Rabiu took over the boutique, leaving the world of finance to follow his passion for fashion.
“My mom was a fabric designer, I looked like a little kid, and I always liked to touch and feel fabric,” Rabiu said.
Born in Nigeria, she moved to the United States when she was a young adult. If the acclimatization to university life was difficult, fashion has always allowed him to express himself. Eventually, her love for fashion turned into a style hustle.
After spending a decade in the world of finance, Rabiu decided to step away from it during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a friend, she learned that the owner of European Tailoring and Alteration was looking to sell. After reviewing the numbers, she realized this was the perfect opportunity for herself.
In addition to dry cleaning and alterations, she added a consignment shop. She says she needed to spice up the storefront and that a lock-in area made sense.
European Tailoring & Alteration is located at 40 N Pearl St., Albany, NY 12207. They are open Monday through Friday.
